Benaim ... misses by that much
Washouts cost veteran spot in grand final lineup

WEDDERBURN Band veteran Danny Benaim will miss Saturday’s cricket grand final after failing by one match to qualify for the finals.
Benaim was unable to play in last Saturday’s winning semi-final and is ineligible for the decider at Boort because he only played three matches for the Band this season.
It was an unlucky miss for Benaim and Wedderburn, which had two matches abandoned during the season and one forfeit when Arnold was unable to field a team in round nine.
The Band’s round 10 clash with Bridgewater Bulls was called off because of weather, and the round 16 meeting with Boort Yando was abandoned due to a soaked outfield at Wedderburn’s Market Square home ground after rain earlier in the week.
Had Benaim been able to play in any one of those matches, he would have been able to be picked for the finals.
In his last outing, against the Bulls in round 15, he took two brilliant catches and bowled seven overs of crafty spin to take 1-8.
Along with fellow veterans Steve Giorlando and Adam Postle, Benaim was a member of a wily bowling lineup for Wedderburn.
