SGT Ben Huismann is the new officer-in-charge at Wedderburn police station.
Sgt Huismann started duties last week after previously being stationed at Maryborough.
As the Loddon’s senior police officer, Sgt Huismann said he had a commitment to community policing and engagement.
He grew up in Dunolly and Maryborough and first became a protective service officer at Dandenong in 2011, transferring to Victoria Police four years later.
“The greater diversity had me taking the next step from a PSO into policing,” Sgt Huismann said. “And I prefer being out and about in the community.”
Sgt Huismann has also served at Ballarat, St Arnaud and Avoca as a police officer. His family is also making the move to Wedderburn, including three boys.
