HUNDREDS of youngsters across the Loddon are in the final days of their summer break before the school year starts next week.
Teachers officially start their preparation for class work on Monday with secondary students having their first day of school on Tuesday,
Wedderburn College is among local schools where there is expected to be an increase in enrolment.
Primary school students will have staggered starts from Tuesday.
At Bridgewater, the school will have its first jump in enrolment for several years.
Principal Linda Kingsley said: “We’re looking forward to a fabulous year ahead with four prep students. This is the largest group we’ve had in quite some time.”
Among new faces at Loddon schools will be new Boort principal Todd Woodfine who comes into the role following the retirement of Lee-Anne Sherwell after eight years in the role.
Among major milestones in schools this year will be the 150th anniversary at Tarnagulla. And works are expected to start on multi-million upgrades announced by the State Government for Wedderburn College and East Loddon P12 College while plans will emerge for the child care centre in Wedderburn.
