Barbecues kept up festive fare
THE small band of Inglewood Lions was on the job throughout December catering for community Christmas celebrations.

Members rocked up with trademark barbecue fare for functions that included the 80th Serpentine Christmas tree and the Loddon Shire staff break-up.
They also provided a barbecue at Inglewood Primary School as part of its traditional Santa toy run to district schoools.
“We did five barbecues all up for the month plus the toy run,” said president Robert Condliffe.
“It’s been a real team effort from ordering the meat, chilling the drinks and picking up tongs to turn the meat on the barbecue.
“Christmas is always a busy time for the club and brings a lot of joy to members who are able to play their part in the community.”
The club is taking a short break in January before its first activity of 2026 hosting the Lions mobile skin cancer check and awareness van next month.
The van will set up at Inglewood Recreation Centre and bookings for spots are being taken through Inglewood and Districts Health Service.
“Australia has one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world. With our love of the outdoors and our, at times, harsh climate, as a people we are often exposed to the dangers of excessive amounts of ultra violet radiation,” Mr Condliffe said.
“Formed in 2019, the Lions V Districts Cancer Foundation seeks to take a leading role in improving skin cancer awareness through skin screenings and support.”
