Band breakthroughs for four-wicket victory
WEDDERBURN Band have won their first junior cricket match for the season, beating Kingower by four wickets in their two-day contest.

Kingower made 8-115 on the first day of the clash from 48 overs, and the Band replied with 6-119 on Saturday.
The win wasn’t without late drama for Wedderburn, which fell from 1-90 to 6-116 before getting across the line.
An opening stand of 65 between Beau Hartnell and Jye Dingfelder ended when Dingfelder was dismissed for 28, which included four boundaries.
The score reached 1-90, with Hartnell retired not out on 31 and Blaz Cramp on 10, but then came the collapse.
The last six Wedderburn batters contributed just nine runs between them, but Brodie Turnbull’s two not out was enough to get them home.
The rising chaos for the Band was highlighted by two run outs in the frenetic final overs. Riley Leach was the best of the Kingower bowlers, taking 2-27 from 10 overs, including three maidens.
Ryder Smith finished with 1-12 from 10 overs with four maidens, beginning his spell with a deadly accurate 0-2 from five overs.
The home team was left to lament 41 extras, including 31 byes, which went a long way towards sealing the Band’s win.
UNBEATEN Boort Yando heads into the Christmas break full of cheer after a devastating 207-run win over Bridgewater Bulls.

The last six wickets fell for nine runs, with Bridgewater battling gamely for 30.1 overs against overwhelming odds.
Jenson Birthisel and Isaac Ferguson each made four, the joint top score for the Bulls.
Eighteen extras helped the score struggle past the 30-run mark, with four Bridgewater players making ducks.
There was some resolute defensive batting – Van Harrison made one from 31 balls faced and Noah Power ended not out without scoring after facing 28 balls.
Ten Magpies bowled, with honours going to Jacob Malone, who took two wickets for none from two overs.
