Another hunting season law breaker at Lake Boort
A Forestville NSW woman has been found guilty in Kerang Magistrates’ Court for public safety and officer obstruction offences committed at Lake Boort on the closing weekend of the 2024 duck hunting season.
A Forestville NSW woman has been found guilty in Kerang Magistrates’ Court for public safety and officer obstruction offences committed at Lake Boort on the closing weekend of the 2024 duck hunting season. The offences included interfering with a person hunting, taking game and obstructing, resisting and endangering Authorised Officers with a motor vehicle. She was ordered to pay $750 to the court fund, was placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond. GMA Director of Compliance and Intelligence Zac Powell said: “People who oppose duck hunting can protest safely and lawfully, however any breaches to public safety laws will be treated seriously”. “GMA has no tolerance for individuals who purposefully endanger Authorised Officers. Public safety laws exist to protect everyone in the community, including hunters, Authorised Officers, and protesters alike,” he said. “There are significant penalties for individuals who unlawfully enter or remain in a designated hunting area, approach hunters within 10 metres, or interfere with, hinder, harass, or obstruct hunters.” People are urged to report illegal hunting and illegal protestor activity to the GMA through its website at gma.vic.gov.au or by calling 136 186, or contact Victoria Police.
