The Pyramid Hill artist and co-organiser of that town’s annual Major’s Vision competition was given the nod in Boort over the Easter weekend by judge Jeannine McNab.
Anne’s winning work was one of more than 300 entries in a show development and tourism committee president Bradley Haw said aimed to boost Easter weekend activities in the town.
More than 400 people visited the exhibition in Boort Memorial Hall following its opening on Friday night.
Ms McNab told the opening ceremony: “ What a fantastic theme — Boortanica. It’s clever, it’s creative, and it really captures something special about this community. Blending the identity of Boort with the beauty of botanical inspiration has clearly sparked so much imagination.
“As I walked through the exhibition, I was genuinely impressed not just by the quality of the artwork, but by the variety.
I will say it certainly wasn’t an easy job! Choosing winning pieces across the kinder, school, and wider community categories was incredibly difficult. There was so much creativity, effort, and individuality on display, and every piece had something special to offer.
“What stood out most to me, though, is how this event has brought the whole community together. There’s something really powerful about that — people of all ages contributing, sharing, and celebrating creativity side by side.”
Ms McNab has praise for younger artists with works on show.
“ Seeing contributions from the Kinder and school students was an absolute highlight. Their work is full of imagination, curiosity, and joy — exactly what art should be.
“And of course, a big thank you to the Kinder and school teachers. We all know how busy your schedules are, so the time and encouragement you’ve given to support students in creating and entering their work does not go unnoticed. You’ve helped foster confidence and creativity, and that’s something truly valuable.
“To all the artists who entered — thank you. Putting your work out there takes courage, and you’ve each contributed to something really meaningful for this town.”
