80 years of togetherness
THE GREAT Christmas gatherings in Loddon communities will have a special moment next month with one town marking the 80th year of being together for the festive season.

Serpentine Christmas tree was first held in 1945 and the town will do its all again this year.
And organisers are planning to share memories of that original celebration when today’s generation gathers at Janiember Park next month.
Brian Gladman has an extract from his father’s diary discussing his attendance at the event, as well as the mention of a dance.
“We hope Brian will read the diary entry with all in attendance, and we will follow with a dance to Begin the Beguine by Artie Shaw as a nod to those that have gone before us,” said one of this year’s organisers Sarah Gladman.
Elsewhere around the shire, Christmas carols will be sung loudly on December 11 at the Bridgewater Primary School for the town’s festive party.
Wedderburn’s community carols performed by the community choir and school students with Maddi Postle on the piano on December 13.
Inglewood Lions Club and the community neighbourhood house are hosting community carols on December 14 on the town hall lawn and Boort will be closing off Godfrey Street from 5pm on December 13 to host their annual Street Party with a highlight being a rubber duck race.
And Pyramid Hill has a new kissing partner lined up for this year’s ‘kiss my ass’ competition. The winning town member will be smooching a donkey at the Community Christmas Street Party where Elias Lanyon will also be entertaining on December 13.
