The urgent care and acute ward at Inglewood and Districts Health Service will be upgraded.

Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas announced the $5.1 million upgrade when visiting the Inglewood hospital this morning.

The new work comes just weeks after the opening of the service's new student accommodation and allied health facililities.

Board deputy chair Anne-Marie Davis said funding for the urgent care and acute ward upgrade was good news for the hospital and the future of local communities.
