The veteran musician was this year accompanied by generations of his family, supporting the centenarian believed to be the oldest Australian musician “on parade” on Anzac Day.
Family, community and local RSL sub-branch president Paul Haw applauded the commitment of Mr Streader, who turned 100 last September, for his continued contributions to commemorations in the town.
The previous day he had sounded the Last Post during a service at Boort District School and was featured on national media. Mr Streader, prevented from serving in World War Two by a work injury, has told the Loddon Herald over the past five years that Anzac Day also allows him the opportunity to remember those from the district who did enlist.
Josh Akers was the busiest of buglers across the Loddon on Friday, on duty at services in Bridgewater, Rheola and Inglewood while Liam Truscott sounded the Last Post at the Inglewood-Bridgewater football clash.
