Whistle be a record

VETERAN Loddon Valley football umpire Glenn Catto has notched up his 500th game with the whistle.

The milestone came earlier than expected when Glenn was called to double up in the league’s opening round.

He umpired the under 18 and reserves matches at Calivil.

Glenn had played with Calivil between 1992 and 1998, including five years coaching the reserves, before taking a break from the game.

But a decade later, and after coaching the Loddon Valley inter-league side for two season, he was part of a group determined to keep contributing to junior football.
