LODDON Shire councillors yesterday refused the planning permit application to process harvested kangaroos for pet meat at the former Inglewood abbatoirs.
Councillors were reluctant in adopting the recommendation to refuse with a planning scheme technicality knocking out the bid to process 1000 kangaroos a week and create local jobs.
What happens now to the disused abbatoirs and what is the future of kangaroo harvesting in the Loddon?
Councillors have not ruled out hope that the processing plant could be located elsewhere in the shire.
