Webster's deputy tilt

MALLEE MP Anne Webster says she will stand for the Nationals' deputy leadership.

Returned for her second term in Parliament at the weekend with an increased majority, it has been reported that Dr Webster believes being deputy leader could benefit Mallee and "would be an excellent learning curve".

Current deputy leader David Littleproud may make a bid for the top job against Barnaby Joyce.

Mr Joyce has said he intends to re-contest the leadership when the parliamentary party meets.
