Webster on Barnaby return
FEDERAL National MPs on Monday dumped leader and deputy prime minister Michael McCormack and returned Barnaby Joyce to the top job.
Mallee MP Anne Wesbter said after Monday’s partyroom vote: “The National Party is the most democratic party in the country, from grass roots members to the federal party room. A vote is never suppressed, nor branches stacked. We are not a party of factions, but of individuals.
“I am on the record as supporting Michael McCormack, and I did support him as the leader. Barnaby won today’s party room ballot and I will offer him the same loyalty that I gave Michael.
“My ultimate focus is on representing the best interests of the people of Mallee. Every day I fight for our communities, our infrastructure, our access to water, our access to health care, and our access to the workforce we need. I will approach my duties with the same relentless vigour under Barnaby’s leadership
“Just last week, the Nationals delivered an agriculture visa. I have been fighting for this and the Nationals have delivered.
“The National party delivers for Mallee and we deliver for the regions.”
