Vax emergency

THE Loddon’s only State Emergency Service Unit will be without active volunteers from midnight Saturday.

Members of the Wedderburn unit have been unable to conduct training, meetings and unit business, including banking, for more than a month because they are not triple vaccinated against COVID-19.

They could be barred from responding to accidents and emergencies after this weekend, leaving an area stretching almost to Wycheproof, Kerang and Dunolly without nearby SES assistance.

“We won’t even be allowed to go and remove a fallen branch from the road,” said controller Paul Gordon-Cooke.
