Turf times tomorrow
SATURDAY’S Upper Loddon cricket grand final pitches early-season dominator Arnold against a buoyed Boort-Yando making its first-ever tilt for a flag.
And for the first time in decades, the premiership will be decided on a turf wicket.
Scott Dwyer last week started preparing the Wedderburn pitch in anticipation of hosting the final.
He has spent this week “nursing the pitch through” for the clash between Cam Dale’s Arnold and Jarrod Hodoras’ Boort-Yando.
Dwyer wants to have the South African couch wicket in top condition and offering good pace.
“As the only turf wicket in the competition, I think it will probably favour the bowlers in Saturday’s grand final,” he said.
