Through to the big one

CALIVIL is through to the Bendigo Bowls’ Division 5 grand final.

They earned a spot in the premiership play-off in defeating Kangaroo Flat by five shots last Saturday.

Ron Lourie, Geoffrey Lourie, Keith Richards and Graham Maxted (s) set up the win with a 24-13 victory on their rink.

Glenn Ray, Allan Dennis, John Gledhill and Alan Leech (s) went down by just one shot 19-20 on their rink while Ian Mansbridge, Howard Miles, Lindsay Gronow and Barry Meighan (s) were one-shot victors.

Nathan Dennis, Brian May, Third Warren Miles and John Pickles (s) went down by five shots on their rink.

Calivil plays White Hills in the grand final this Saturday at South Bendigo at 1pm.

Meanwhile in the Bendigo midweek Division 5 grand

final last Thursday played at South Bendigo, Inglewood fell seven shots short of victory.

Joan Roberts, Zelma Dowling, David Whitehead, Helen Leech (s) d Tom Dobeli, Heather Neil, Des Fiedler, Irene Walklate (s) 17-15.

Edna Patterson, Phyllis Mc-Ewan, Wendy Wilson, Pam Kelly (s) lost to Norma Crothers, Elaine Bell, Lorraine Cole, Ann Churchill (s) 12-21.

Meanwhile, entries have opened for the Wedderburn club’s annual Easter tournament.

The three-day event will have competition in singles, pairs and fours from April 1.

Entries for events close the day before.
