Studs are starring
Two Loddon studs have had a very successful week.
KEDLESTON Park Merino Stud is enjoying a purple patch on the show circuit.
The Calivil stud this week won the state merino hogget ram championship at the Victorian State Merino Field Day held in Marnoo.
The success for John and Rosemary Humbert follows a string of awards collected this year.
They have included one of the major awards at the Australian Fleece Competition last month as part of the Australian Sheep and Wool Show, dominating at the recent Ballarat Sheep Show and winning a sixth pen-of-three title at the Loddon Valley field day in February.
John and Rosemary registered their Kedleston Park merino and poll merino stud in 2006, However, they have been farming at Calivil for almost 50 years.
The stud’s annual on-property sale will be held tomorrrow.
Meanwhile, Terrick West Poll Merino stud negotiated the sale at Marnoo field day of its top young sire TW200081 (previously stud reserve) to the Miller Family’s Western District stud Glenpaen for $30,000.
Terrick West stud’s on-property ram sale was held yesterday while Willera stud’s sale at Serpentine is scheduled later this month.
