Students whip up lunches
EAST Loddon P12 College VCAL students have shown themselves to be kitchen whizzes.
They teamed up with Bears Lagoon Serpentine Football Club president Chris Lewin last week to whip up 130 lunches for a gathering of Loddon Shire staff,
Students, Chris and VCAL teacher Eamon Smith cooked barbecue meats and veggie burgers, prepared salads, organised tea and coffee and served the line of diners.
Senior sub-school leader Sarah Byrne said: “It was a fantastic opportunity for students to practice their customer service skills, prepare for their food handlers course, interact with adults from various backgrounds, practice their team work skills and generally contribute to the local community.”
Meanwhile, the college’s Years 9-10 outdoor education class has returned from three days of paddling, fishing and camping along the Murray River from Picnic Point to Echuca. A total of 80km was paddled.
