Stalwarts, stars honoured

FIVE premiership players have been made life members of Kingower Cricket Club.

Lionel Learmonth, Geoff Geyer, Ben Rose, David Rose and Adam Murphy were inducted at the Upper Loddon association club’s award dinner.

Lionel was a member of the 1974-75 premiership team. A formidable opening bowler, he took 207 wickets at an average of 13.6 including match figures of 12-115 from 27.5 overs in the 1974-75 grand final.

He played for Kingower from 1968-75 including a stint as captain and since the passing of former captain Mervyn Gilmore Lionel has presented an annual batting trophy in Mervyn’s memory. Geoff also played in the 1974-75 premiership team at the age of 14. He played for the club between 1973-78 and 1984-94 including a stint as captain.
