'Signal' message wrong
ONE word on the Albert Borella VC information board in Wedderburn’s Soldiers’ Memorial Park should be corrected to remove confusion on a famous soldier’s act of bravery.
That’s the view of resident Peter Norman who says “signal” in describing Borella’s actions in World War One is inconsistent with the Victoria Cross citation.
Mr Norman said official records of combat at Villers-Bretonneux, France, in July 1918 that saw Borella awarded the highest medal for bravery referred to a single act.
