Show will go on

BOORT’S agricultural and pastoral society may still be without a show secretary but volunteers have vowed the annual event will make a grand return in October.

Organisers of the Loddon Shire’s only agricultural show say they are putting finishing touches to the first show since 2019.

“We’ve a great committee doing an amazing job to get this year’s event up and running,” said society president Mad-eleine Scott.

“The volunteers are so important and we all want to make the show a success.”

While unable to fill the vital show secretary position, Madeleine said there would still be some pavilion events.

She said at this stage, sections would be limited to mostly Victorian Agricultural Society and Northern District Agricultural Society Association events.

“It’s a work in progress and we will be trying our best to introduce more sections,” she said.

However, a full program was planned with outdoor events including shearing, dog trials and horse events.

Madeleine said the committee was close to finalising carnival amusements and rides for the October show that would also include the truck show organised by Heath Saunders.

She said music, fireworks and vintage car displays had also been confirmed.

“The Boort Show is incredibly important to the communities of not just Boort but right across the shire to bring people together,” Madeleine said.
