Shirley hands over reigns
SHIRLEY Geyer has relinquished her role as secretary of Inglewood Cemetery Trust after 45 years.
President Brian Rodwell paid tribute to Shirley’s outstanding service at a special retirement lunch on Sunday.
Brian said Shirley had been an outstanding secretary with enormous knowledge of the trust and its responsibilities. Shirley took over the position in June 1977 from Daryl Nixon at the request of then trust president and owner of Appleby Funerals, Jim Summers.
She had been wanting to retire for several years and following a further call this year for a new secretary, Brian said Kim Doherty had been appointed to the role.
Sunday’s lunch at the Bridgewater Hotel was also attended by Shirley’s family.
