Shire adopts budget
LODDON Shire councillors on Tuesday adopted council’s 2022-2023 budget that has increased rates by the 1.75 per cent State Government cap.
Just one submission was received to the draft budget while no feedback was given to council on the new fees and charges that will apply from tomorrow.
CEO Lincoln Fitzgerald said investment in council capital projects would be $7.34 million with almost half allocated to roads.
Council’s waste service charges would increase by 10 per cent “which offsets increases in the cost of kerbside waste and recycling disposal along with new licencing requirements,” he said. Operating expenditure will drop from $38.71 million to $36.99 million and the budget is expected to deliver a $600,000 surplus.
Rates will contribute more than $10 million to council revenue.
Swimming pool entry fees for next season will be adults $5 and children $2.50 with a family daily ticket of $10.50.
Season tickets will range from $51 to $132.
Domestic pet fees will be $128 for unsterilised animals and $32 desexed animals. Other concessions will be available for domestic animals.
