Sale of a century
WHEN a Buick motor car first arrived at Fiery Flat, horses still pulled ploughs and transported residents to nearby towns for school, chuch, dances and family gathering
In a fortnight, that 1928 Buick will be lined up with a unique collection of cars, trucks and agricultural machinery and implements to go under the auctioneer’s hammer at a clearing sale. And attached to every piece in the Curnick family collection is a story ready to be told or discovered.
Peter Curnick (pictured) remembers growing up on his parents’ 1200-hectare farm, the Buick used for spotlightling and making a celebrated appearance at a back-to Korong Vale parade in the 1970s, years after father Don had driven the same car, complete with flapping canvas window blinds, to his court his mother Margaret
Auction agent James Nevins, of FP Nevins and Co, said the sale catalogue had already attracted considerable interest from collectors.
