Roo permit on agenda

PDATE: The council agenda has been released with officers recommendation permit be refused.

A PERMIT application to turn the disused abattoirs at Inglewood into a kangaroo pet meat processing plant could be decided by Loddon Shire Council on Tuesday.

The application by Campaspe Meats, advertised last July, has been listed on the agenda for the meeting of councillors, it was confirmed to the Loddon Herald yesterday. Animal activists launched a campaign against the bid and staged small protests in September with representatives addressing council last November.

Councillors told protest leaders and organisers of petitions that the permit would be decided on planning grounds only.
