Pool hours cut

A late afternoon announcement by Belgravia Leisure, new managers of Loddon swimming pools says tomorrow's opening will also bring reduced opening hours.

Pools will open six days a week some days for two or three hours while Mitiamo will only open twice a week.

Belgravia says this is due to a shortage of lifeguards.

A statement by Belgravia on each pool's social media said:

We are experiencing a shortage of lifeguards which is impacting pool operators across the country, including here at Loddon. Without sufficient staff our pools cannot open safely. This means the pool season opening for Pyramid Hill, Wedderburn, Boort, Mitiamo and Inglewood will open this weekend through to December 18 with modified hours.

Due to the shortage of lifeguards, we are urgently recruiting more lifeguards to ensure the delay is not prolonged.

We acknowledge that this is not an ideal outcome, however the decision is based on the safety of pool users and we are looking forward increasing hours in due course. Additional opening hours will be announced as soon as pools can be opened safely.

We’re currently offering free lifeguard training to any applicants. If you, or someone you know in your community is looking for summer work that includes supporting the community to access valuable facilities, learning valuable life skills and great work/life balance, apply now. https://belgravialeisure.com.au/simply-the-best-summer-jobs/
