Petition, survey underway
Updated: Jun 3, 2021
THE impact of the Loddon’s child care crisis will be chronicled in a series of videos being filmed across the region.
Keep Families Local campaign organisers believe the local stories of families and businesses will strengthen their campaign for State Government action in local communities.
Wedderburn College principal Danny Forrest, a member of the KFL working committee, said release of videos over the next fortnight would follow the launch of a petition by local MPs Louise Staley and Peter Walsh and an online survey.
“Anyone who’s anyone, the committee is making contact with,” he said.
Fellow committee member Maddi Postle said: “Lack of childcare and afters-chool care has a ripple effect of impact and we want that to be known.
“Whether you are a parent/carer, business owner, community member, past community member or future community member ... we want to hear from you!
“We are well aware that this will be a long and challenging project, but our first-hand experience of this issue is fuelling our determination.”
The petition is being circulated across Loddon communities with reports of businesses filling a sheet a day in the first week - each petition form has room for 12 signatures.
