Paperwork pulps collection

CHANGED regulations and compliance for recycling has ended East Loddon Lions Club’s collection of waste paper.

Lions took over collection of paper and cardboard when the East Loddon Scouts folded more than 20 years ago.

But club secretary Jo Guthrie said increased red tape since a change in Environmental Protection Authority rules late last year had seen the club with just six members now end collections.

Jo said money raised through recycling of paper had been donated to East Loddon P12 College.

“The amount of paperwork now required was just too much for our small club and we have removed the storage bins from the Lions Den,” she said.
