Old hut on calendar
ACROSS the Loddon are farm buildings standing testament to the resilience and ingenuity of early agricultural settlers.
Two slab huts on the Calder Highway at Glenalbyn are said the more 150 years olds.
They were part of the property that Graham Nesbit’s grandparents bought in 1927.
Featured on the 2022 Loddon Herald calendar and rainfall chart, these slab huts served for decades.
One was used as a blacksmith shop with a later addition doubling as a workshop and an undercover area to shoe horses used on the farm. The other was the workers’ quarters.
“The huts are now used just for storage,” said Graham who is president of the Victorian Farmers’ Federation Wedderburn branch.
