No word of camp sites
THE State Government has refused to confirm the number of potential riverfront camp sites on the Loddon River.
The first sites under new regulations allowing access to Crown licenced farm land opened on the Goulburn River last week with the Government saying hundreds more will be listed on its website this year.
Government officials have inspected a number of Loddon River sites since late last year but no details have been released on how many have been assessed and when decisions will be made
A spokesperson said: “Feedback received was used to finalise the regulations and design a thorough assessment process to ensure important cultural, environmental and regulatory matters are considered at each site. Further sites along the Goulburn, Broken, Ovens, Campaspe, Loddon, Mitta Mitta and Murray Rivers are currently being assessed for inclusion in the program. More to be added progressively in the coming weeks.”
