New tanker arrives
A NEW heavy-duty dual-cab tanker will increase Inglewood Fire Brigade’s firefighting capacity and volunteer safety.
The brigade took delivery of the 4000-litre tanker last week and volunteers spent the weekend becoming familiar with the latest safety and firefighting features before starting official training this week.
Captain Andrew Smith said the Iveco truck would replace the brigade’s 20-year-old vehicle.
“The safety aspects of the new truck are huge compared to what we have had in the past,” Captain Smith said.
The larger cabin would have all volunteers travelling to incidents inside the truck that was fitted with adjustable visual monitors to be used when fighting fires “and the capacity to fight running grassfires from inside the cabin”.
