National award for pair

TRACEY Webb and Claire Harrison have been named the first recipients of the Active Farmers’ Lesley Morrison Community Spirit Award.

The local duo said at the weekend they felt “very connected to the award”, having been part of Active Farmers in Bridgewater with Lesley who died in May

“We’ll use the award prize vouchers to buy more equipment to use in the local Active Farmers’ classes,” said Tracey, “the type of fitness equipment that Lesley liked to use at our classes and activities.”

Both Claire and Tracey said they were humbled to have been nominated for the national award. “There are so many people doing things every day right across the communities and the country,” Claire said.

The award citation said Claire and Tracey were ‘partners in crime’ going “above and beyond to make their community and Lesley’s community a better place. These two are virtually inseparable and are always working together to help others.”

Active Farmers said: “For years to come we look forward to remembering Lesley and recognising our local community heroes!”

Active Farmers classes in the Loddon have a focus on community fitness and wellbeing.
