'Make Loddon matter'

THE economic contribution of Loddon towns and Mallee electorate communities was huge and should be recognised, independent candidate Sophie Baldwin said on Monday.

Ms Baldwin, making her latest visit to the Loddon, said her candidature in the expected May federal election was about “making Loddon and Mallee matter”.

Ahead of a planned meeting today with Wedderburn College principal Danny Forrest to discuss the local child care crisis, Ms Baldwin added her support to Loddon Shire Council’s election wish list that put child care as its No 1 priority.

She said federal and state governments needed to put differences aside and work to deliver flexible funding models for Loddon and other rural communities.

“The model must cater for rural communities, take into account distances and population and there must be guaranteed funding,” she said.
