Less days for swimming
Belgravia Leisure has used a late Christmas Eve announcement to say this summer will not be a "normal season" for opening hours at Loddon swimming pools.
The company, awarded the contract to manage pools in September, had a week earlier said it aimed to have normal operating hours from last Monday.
However, the Christmas Eve announcement "to be transparent to the community" claimed the company would now extend opening hours in warmer weather where possible and had an exciting events calendar although now details were released in the statement posted only to social media.
And in a series of Christmas Day announcements by Belgravia, it was revealed that Mitiamo pool will only open once this coming week, on Friday.
The only pools to be opened on New Year's Day will be Pyramid Hill and Wedderburn. Pyramid Hill is also to open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday Wedderburn pool will open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
Inglewood pool will opened Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Boort pool will be open Monday through to Thursday only.
The company says there continues to be a shortage of lifeguards and has now said that if local communities want to keep their pools open, they should encourage people to apply for lifeguard positions, particularly at Inglewood and Wedderburn.
Belgravia Leisure has been contacted for comment.
