Kennedy in the swing

TYPICAL cool autumn conditions greeted the 11 members on Boort Golf Club’s season opening day.

Barry Kennedy hit the first ball as the newest life member of the Kara Kara Golf Association.

An ambrose competition then took place with not much separating the three teams.

Playing as a trio, president Stuart Tweddle with Doug Couper and Scott Rollinson shot one under off the stick to record a nett total of 63.5 and finish three behind the runners up of David and John Hellsten, together with Barry Kennedy and Kevin Lineham.

Overall winners though were Allen Stringer, Andrew Kane, Damien Lanyon and Ray Taylor who ended up with a fine five under 66 off the stick and nett 59. In the nearest the pins,

David claimed both the 1st and 9th holes, Ray was best of the day on the 15th , while Andrew knocked his tee shot on the 18th green to have Allen knock the putt close enough for their team to take the prize.
