Kane's life membership

ANDREW Kane has been awarded life membership of the Kara Kara Golf Association.

The award was made following Sunday’s men’s pennant.

Andrew started as a junior at Boort and quickly became proficient at the sport. He has many achievements at club, association and state levels.

He has been club champion at Boort 14 times and went on to be Kara Kara champion of champions eight times after earlier winning four junior titles.

Andrew won the Victorian Sandgreens Championship in 1987, 1990 and 2021 and was runner up in 2011 and 2012.

He also won the Victorian Par 3 Championship in 2010 and 2013, held at Kyabram.

Andrew played country week for Kara Kara Golf from 1983 until 1990, when he tried his hand at the professional ranks.

When he returned to the district in 2001, he became the face of Kara Kara and has continued to lead the country week side from the front playing for 28 seasons, winning 42 matches, and playing a squared match 12 times.

Andrew has been a country week selector for many years and captain of the team for the last 15 years.

He has represented Country Victoria against the Country South Australian team on several occasions.
