Ivan turns 100!
IVAN Vanderwall has experienced the trauma of hiding in haystacks from invading German soldiers in World War Two and the freedom of life in Australia.
He has lived through the Great Depression when the family dairy farm in The Netherlands was paid one cent a litre for milk and has known the joys to holding aloft countless trophies as a lawn bowls champion.
Today, Ivan will celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends in Pyramid Hill.
He will be joined for the centenary party by son Peter who has been in town for the past week, catching up in person with his father for the first time in a decade, and grandson Kai.
