Injured Pies get break
Updated: Oct 20, 2021
THE first break in this year’s North Central league has come at the right time for the improving Boort Magpies.
The injury-depleted Pies were denied a third straight win by Wycheproof Narapoort on Saturday.
A mounting injury list will give the Pies times to regroup before the home and away season resumes with a home match against St Arnaud.
The current senior injury list has James Wilson, Sam Dewar, Matt Hodoras, Pat Bogers, Levi Moss, Rhys Brown, Jesse Muscatello and Harry Weaver.sidelined.
Coach Andrew Hawker said: “We were very competitive early-on Saturday but the quality of ball use by the Charlton mids gave them some very nice forward entries in the second half.
“I think we will have a very light week, we are walking wounded at the moment. The break has come at a good time,” Hawker said.
The Pies have three players in the league squad that trained last night in Wycheproof ahead of Saturday’s clash with Sunraysia in Sea Lake - Keiran Wilson, Matthew Chisari and Jack Smith.
Will Holt and Jordan Rosengreen are among six Redbacks in the squad with nine Sea Lake Nandaly players in the 33-member squad. Other Redbacks are Tom Campbell, Jordan Hargreaves, Jackson Guan and Corey Lowry,
Redbacks co-coach and league selector Danny Benaim said: “All our players are keen to participate in inter-league and as a club we really encourage our players to push themselves to play at that level.
“The clubs involved in North Central have always been very proud to be part of the league.”
Football and netball matches will be played on Saturday.
