Guyura plans confirmed
A NEW group camping area for school and a place for Aboriginal cultural gatherings will be new features of Kooyoora (Guyura) State Park.
Bendigo-based Aboriginal corporation DJAARA on Monday released its plans for what is badged the park’s renewal project.
It says a landscape-sensitive approach will be taken for picnic area upgrades to incorporate the natural landscape and existing Catto Lodge shelter into designs.
“DJAARA continues to implement the goals of our recognition and settlement agreement through our joint management Plan. The renewal of Guyura allows Djaara to care for country in a way that embeds Dja Dja Wurrung culture and knowledge into the landscape,” said CEO Rodney Carter.
Monday’s announcement included a commitment to inform and consult with residents and community groups throughout the planning process.
