Goal front struggle
A REDBACKS’ outfit hit hard with injuries found the going tough against a dominant Birchip-Watchem side on Saturday.
The Bulls who had the ball forward for a major part of the game at Wedderburn’s Donaldson Park but couldn’t come up with a commensurate goal scoring rate in relation to inside 50 entries.
The inaccurate Bulls could have had the game sewn up by half time but one goal from 10 scoring shots in the second term kept the Redbacks in the game.
Lachie Sirett in the ruck and resting forward was a handful for the Redbacks. His general ruck play and marking around the ground along with a three-goal contribution made him a formidable obstacle for the Redbacks to overcome.
Daniel Castellano was dangerous forward and chipped in with four goals. The Bulls defence led by the Hinkleys, Dale and Clayton made life difficult for the Redback forwards and let few chances through. Sam Simmons with two goals, Ben Hogan and Elliot Jaeschke were others to show out in an overall team effort by the Bulls.
