Final round this weekend
Updated: Oct 20, 2021
SPORT is back across the Loddon this weekend - still without crowds - following the lifting of regional Lockdown 6.0.
The final scheduled home and away round of football and netball will be played in the Loddon Valley league.
Several clashes will define the finals’ campaign with undefeated Mitiamo playing at home against an injury-depleted Bridgewater.
The reigning premiers have had few outings in the last two months but manage to shake off the cobwebs each time they return from the bye or a lockdown.
The Mean Machine has lacked spark and how they overcome the loss of key players on Saturday will influence their quest for glory in 2021.
Bears Lagoon Serpentine, sitting comfortably in fifth position, could well make a statement in their clash with Pyramid Hill who were totally outclassed by Mitiamo a fortnight ago.
The Bulldogs have sadly seen early-season mojo head south in recent clashes.
If season stars including George and Dickens can find spark, a return to the winner’s list is possible.
But without the return of fire, Serp could easily pull off their greatest win of the season.
Inglewood are at home to Maiden Gully and Newbridge hosts the rampaging Marong. The home teams have battled valiantly all season but final round victories appear a step too far against better skilled opponents.
Meanwhile, Loddon Valley clubs have been informed that the elimination final will be played at Marong, the qualifying final at Serpentine, first semi-final at Mitiamo, second semi at Newbridge, preliminary final at Calivil and the grand final scheduled for September 11 at Maiden Gully.
