Emergency cash for oval
Updated: Mar 3, 2021
THE water irrigation system at Pyramid Hill’s Mitchell Park will be replaced after Loddon Shire Council on Tuesday approved an emergency grant of almost $7000.
Cr Dan Straub told council that without replacement of the irrigation system, there were concerns the oval would fail to meet playing requirements for the 2021 football season.
Cr Straub said total cost of replacement would be $10,264.25 and while the funding request fell outside normal processes, the park committee had completed eligibility checks for council and lodged an informal application for funding.
Councillors agreed to make the emergency grant from unallocated funds in the community grant program.
Cr Straub said the oval at Mitchell Park would be used for training from March 17, three weeks before the opening round of the 2021 Loddon Valley League season.
Mitchell Park committee of management will be required to contribute $3421 to the replacement project.
