Detecting a great event

WEDDERBURN’S Detector Jam-bouree has been confirmed as a definite event for the Labor Day long weekend in March.

Event organiser Karen Fazzani said planning was well underway and “a COVID-safe plan will be in place requiring attendees to be double vaccinated with QR code sign in”.

She said up to 180 entrants were expected for the token hunt, supported by their families and friends.

“The Jamboree has become a ‘must’ on many prospector’s calendars since its beginnings in 1998, both for the competition and the chance to catch up with fellow enthusiasts,” she said. “The event offers detecting and gold panning contests and demonstrations, live music, market stalls and more for participants and a relaxed weekend away for families and friends.”

Karen said that after last year’s event was cancelled, Wedderburn Tourism was excited to bring the event back, including the town garage sale.
