Cuppa raises research funds
BOORT’S Biggest Morning Tea last Thursday has raised more than $1000 for the Cancer Council.
The town’s resource and information centre hosted the morning where the importance of skin cancer checks was highlighted.
Centre manager Sophia Herrington said: “This is a cause very close to my heart, as my mum was recently diagnosed with skin cancer and has been through an incredible journey to have this removed off her face with a positive outcome.
“A skin cancer check should be high on your priority list if you are over the age of 40 and live in this harsh climate.
“We hear too often people say, ‘I’ve been meaning to make an appointment to have my skin checked’ – don’t delay any longer.”
Sophia said Northern District Community Health recently offered 15 appointments to farmers to come into BRIC and have their skin checked by a professional.
