Crowds key to games

Updated: Oct 20, 2021

UPDATE: A decision is expected to be made tonight (Thursday) by LVFL

LODDON Valley’s football and netball this weekend remain up in the air as league officials sweat on latest COVID restriction announcements from the State Government.

League president Simon Tuohey said the board continued to work with clubs.

No indication of decisions on this week’s scheduled games has been given, the league having missed the last three weeks.

While junior sport is allowed, not all matches proceeded last weekend and the Pyramid Hill-Bridgewater netball games were played Thursday night.

A statement from the league late last week announced cancellation of the round deferred to the Queen’s Birthday weekend. “No points will be awarded for any round eight competition matches in the senior football and netball grades,” it said

“Loddon Valley Football Netball League is about our community.

“Without timely and clear direction from the State Government and limited crowd capacities, clubs deemed it not viable to proceed with round eight senior matches.”

Loddon Valley last month has adopted the AFL Victoria COVID Functional Framework that says if between four and six consecutive rounds are abandoned, the season shall recom-mence at the next scheduled round following a minimum seven-day training period.
