Changing grains

DONALD McGauchie has seen and been part of change in Australian agriculture for the best part of 30 years.

The farmer leader from Prairie West first shot to national prominence in agri-politics in the early 1990s and within a decade was on the board of GrainCorp.

Last week, Donald retired at the company’s annual general meeting after serving on the board for a total of 15 years in two stints since 2000.

The first time he served on the board was when the Victorian Elevators Board was acquired by VicGrain, which he says marked momentous change for the industry and, ultimately, GrainCorp.
