Case of hanging gardens

EAST Loddon Garden Club members were on trial last Friday.

They combined discovering new tips for growing flowers with the reality of 19th century court in Inglewood.

At the old court house, they were entertained with an Inglewood and District Historical Society re-enactment where member Marj Shay quickly became one of the accused and other members were seconded to the jury.

The garden club also met with Illona McEwan, of Inglewood’s Bee-andiefarms, who spoke about her garden and bouquets.

“The beautifully presented arrangement Illona brought along on the day was a testament to the fabulous work she does,” said club president Christine Fitchett.

Members had refreshments at local cafes and lunch at Steve’s Empire State Hotel.
