Axe falls on cattle
CATTLE have been sold for the last time at Bendigo.
Stock agents made the call just a day after just nine head were offered on Monday.
The decision ends more than 150 years of regional cattle markets in Bendigo and three months of uncertainty after weekly sales moved to fortnightly offerings.
Vealers from the Loddon topped averages at the final sale.
And for local stock agent James Nevins it was a sad that reflected changes on animal production in the region since drought.
