An independent stand
ACCESS to childcare and better rural infrastructure have been flagged as key federal election issues by Sophie Baldwin.
The water advocate and journalist on Friday announced her bid to unseat sitting Mallee MP Anne Webster.
Ms Baldwin’s campaign for the seat that stretches from the Loddon, Maryborough and Horsham to Mildura, already has the support of Mildura independent state MP Ali Cupper.
Backing has come from Central Murray Environmental Floodplains Group that approached Ms Baldwin to stand as an independent at the election that will be held by the end of May.
The group’s platform is for recognition that farmland in the Murray and Loddon Valleys are a vital composition of community and deserve environmental recognition by government
